Personal Project Journal: December 20,2011

I went down to the pond today with a tape measure. I had to determine the appropriate length of the dock. The dock has to be able to get over a large submerged rock to get to open water. The rock, as I found out today is about 11 feet long and about 4 more feet into the water. This brings the overall length to between 15 and 16 feet. The width of the dock will be 3 feet. I have not figured out how big to make the spaces under the dock but I will have that soon.

Personal Project Journal: December 6, 2011

I have decided to use high density foam blocks to float the dock. They are easier to shape to fit and are cheap. To keep the blocks from falling apart or gettign waterlogged, I was thinking of putting them in a pastic bag and shrinking it around the block. I was planning on going down to the pond to take measurements today, but all the rain has filled the pond and I am unable to go out and get anaccurate measurement. Oh well, better luck tomorrow.
